Markets in Avila

Avila, Castile and León

About markets in Avila

Markets in Avila give you a direct line to the fresh produce and local specialities of this UNESCO World Heritage walled city. Two indoor municipal markets serve the city, both open six days a week and stocked with fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese and baked goods from the surrounding province.

Avila sits at over 1,100 metres on the Castilian plateau, and that altitude shapes what you'll find at the stalls. Expect hearty cured meats, pulses and the local chuletón de Ávila (a thick-cut beef steak the province is known for). For more on what to see in the city, the Avila tourism office has practical visitor information.
